MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Jack Sladek, Sr., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior Jack Sladek (Fort Worth, Texas) finished tied third overall at the FST Invitational at Pinecrest Country Club this week. Sladek shot even overall with a 71-71-74=216 in the 54-hole tournament. He had the best Par 4s average with a 4.00-clip and totaled 34 pars and 10 birdies. This is his second ASC Golfer of the Week this year with his previous in the fall season on October 18.
 
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Alyssa Yee, Sr., UC Santa Cruz
UC Santa Cruz senior Alyssa Yee (Davis, Calif.) carded the best results from the conference this week, posting a 74-75=149 to finish seven over par at the Westbrook Invite at the Lakes in Peoria, Arizona. She was the top individual from the Banana Slugs as she tied 19th and led her team to a eighth-place finish in a deep field that featured No. 3 George Fox, No. 5 Emory, No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 7 Redlands, No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan, and No. 15 Trinity. Yee also had five birdies.
 
OTHER TOP GOLF PERFORMANCES
(Men)
LeTourneau senior Reed Gesse (Tyler, Texas) led the YellowJackets with a tie for seventh at the FST Invitational this week. Gesse carded a 73-71-76=220 and helped the YellowJackets to a third place finish as a team.
 
Concordia Texas junior AJ So (Temple, Texas) scored a 76-69-78=223 at the FST Invitational and was tied for 12th to lead the Tornados.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior Jacob Wright (Abilene, Texas) scored a 77 on the second round to improve to 157 overall at the Kingsmen Invitational at Moorpark Country Club hosted by Cal Lutheran.

LeTourneau sophomore Hannah Newell (Houston, Texas) placed second overall at the FST Invitational as she finished two strokes off the medalist and posted a 78-80=158.  
 
Concordia Texas sophomore Sophia Padilla (Spring Branch, Texas) finished third at the FST Invitational with an 80-80=160 result.
 
Hardin-Simmons freshman Shay West (San Angelo, Texas) led the Cowgirls with a 74-81=155 to earn 12th place overall at the Regals Invitational at Moorpark Country Club hosted by Cal Lutheran.
 
East Texas Baptist junior Kirsten Bridges (Blossom, Texas) posted an 83-92=175 at the FST Invitational and was tied for 16th.
 
UP NEXT
March 18-19 is the next set of tournaments and will have several teams at UT Dallas’ Texas Cup at Thorntree Golf Course in DeSoto, Texas. UTD, East Texas Baptist, Concordia Texas, and Mary Hardin-Baylor will be in attendance. McMurry and Howard Payne are in Louisiana for the Hal Sutton Invitational hosted by Centenary College.
