AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Karsen Macias, F, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor senior forward Karsen Macias (Arlington, Texas) scored go-ahead goals in both games this week for UMHB. He put the Cru ahead of unbeaten Southwestern in the 30th minute and followed that with a fourth-minute goal against Howard Payne. Macias totaled five shots with four on goal and two goals.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Trace Binyon, D, So., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons sophomore defender Trace Binyon (Frisco, Texas) didn't leave the field last week through two games for the Cowboys. Binyon had 90 minutes at defender in the 2-0 loss to Belhaven where the Cowboy defense only allowed eight shots. He helped the defense to the win 3-2 over ETBU by only letting the Tigers take seven shots in the game.
 
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Offensive 
East Texas Baptist senior defender Brenden Gajewski (Dripping Springs, Texas) scored a goal against Lyon College and had a shot versus HSU as a defender helping ETBU to 1-1 on the week. He had the third goal in the game of a 3-1 win over Lyon College.
 
Hardin-Simmons sophomore midfielder Daniel Villagomez (Waco, Texas) helped propel the Cowboys to an ASC win over East Texas Baptist on Friday night with the game-winning goal in the 76th minute of the 3-2 win. Villagomez finished the night with three shots and one shot on goal for the game-winner in 81 minutes for the Cowboys in the midfield.
 
Howard Payne sophomore forward Kolby Lara (Cleveland, Texas) provided a jolt to the Yellow Jacket offense, distributing the ball dangerously to set up teammates with goal scoring chances. Lara provided the assist on the lone goal.

Defensive
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore defender Yannis Banae (Frisco, Texas) played two full 90-minute contests, helping the Cru to a 1-0-1 record Banae and UMHB tied unbeaten Southwestern 2-2 with Banae scoring the equalizer with less than three minutes remaining. UMHB limited the Pirates to just ten shots on frame. Benae and the Cru allowed Howard Payne only three shots on frame in a 2-1 win over the Yellow Jackets.
 
Howard Payne freshman goalkeeper Adrian Villa (Roswell, New Mexico) had another standout performance this week as he collected 11 saves on 19 shots faced, allowing 2 goals. His 84.6% save percentage, 11 saves, and 19 shots faced all are the highest among goalkeepers in ASC play this week.
