AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Noah Garcia, RB, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Noah Garcia had a huge day for the Cowboys with five touchdowns. He scored four TDs in the first half (three rushing and a receiving). He finished teh day with 124 yards rushing on just 14 attempts, added three receptions for 86 tards and a 15-yard kickoff return for 225 all-purpose yards on just 18 touches. He only played three quarters in a game that was 44-14 after three quarters. He moved to second all-time at HSU with 40 rushing touchdowns for his career.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kaiden Roden, LB, Jr., Hardin-Simmons
Kaiden Roden from Hardin-Simmons led the Cowboys' defense with nine tackle and had two tackles for a loss.  He also blocked a kick in the Cowboys' 54-24 win at Howard Payne.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – B.J. Stewart, WR, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
B.J. Stewart had 308 yards in returns last weeks UMHB victory over ETBU. Stewart tallied 112 yards on five punt returns with one kickoff return for 100 yards. Stewart ran one punt back 61 yards for a touchdown and recorded just the third 100-yard kickoff return for touchdown in program history.
 
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Offensive
Kamerin Ferguson from UMHB ran for 100 yards on seven carries this week. He did not lose a single yard in the contest. Ferguson rushed for two touchdowns with a long of 63 yards.
Jamel Toney-Black from HPU recored 10 receptions for 183 yards and two TD's in the Yellowjackets game against Hardin-Simmons.
Defensive
Brandon McGruder from UMHB was a nuisance to the Tiger offense. He tallied 3.5 tackles for 19 yards lost with two sacks for 14 yards lost. McGruder recorded a loss on all four of his tackles and was a big pressure to the Tiger offense at defensive end.
 
Howard Payne's KD Bookman had five tackles, with one tackle for a loss and one pass break up.  
 
Special Teams
Pedro Altamirano from Hardin-Simmons finished the day with seven touchbacks on nine kickoffs, made all five PATs and hit a 34-yard field goal.
 
Eli Cobos from Howard Payne connected on four punts that averaged 40.8 yards.   Two of his punts landed inside the 20 and he had two touchbacks.
