BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer teams earned their right to play the for the 2025 ASC Women's Soccer Championship on Saturday, November 8th at 4:00 p.m. The Cowgirls and The Cru both won their semifinal games on Thursday on the campus of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Semifinal Game #1 Recap - #2 HSU vs #3 HPU
Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team advanced to the 2025 American Southwest Conference championship match after a commanding 5-1 victory over Howard Payne in the tournament semifinal on Thursday morning at Cru Soccer Field.
The Cowgirls struck early and often, tallying four goals in the first half to take control of the semifinal matchup. Senior
Presleigh Thiessen opened the scoring in the 16
th minute off an assist from
Tatum Barnett, who followed with a goal of her own in the 28
th minute to double the lead.
Abbey Dugan added two first-half goals, one in the 36
th and another in the 43
rd minute, pushing the score to 4-1 by halftime. Howard Payne's lone goal came on a penalty kick from Brenna Douthit.
Barnett sealed the victory just after the break, scoring her second goal in the 47
th minute to give HSU a 5-1 advantage. The Cowgirls outshot the Yellow Jackets 23-9 and controlled possession throughout the match.

Abigail Medlin earned the win, combining with
Samantha Longoria and
Peyton Scott to hold Howard Payne to just one goal on four shots on target.
Semifinal Game #2 Recap - #1 UMHB vs #4 ETBU
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over East Texas Baptist University in the 2025 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament Semifinal Thursday evening in Belton. The win advances the Cru to the 2025 ASC Championship match.
The first half played scoreless with UMHB outshooting the Tigers 6-3 in the half. The Cru also put four shots on frame.
Gracie Ruthven,
Audrey Harlien and
McKenna Prichard each tallied three shots in the half.
Audrey Harlien opened the second half with a goal less than two minutes in, going in unassisted for a 1-0 UMHB margin.
Jayme Dowell added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 85th minute, finishing a ricocheted shot from Harlien for a 2-0 lead.
Gracie Ruthven added one more goal for the Cru in the 89
th minute, scoring off a pass from
Leila Cunningham for a 3-0 win.
Ruthven led the Cru with five shots while Harlien and
Bella Park each added three.
Aubrey Tipton earned the 90-minute shutout for the Cru, making five saves in the contest.
