BELTON, Texas – The Hardin-Simmons women's soccer team captured the 2025 ASC Conference Championship on Saturday, November 8th after defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor, 1-0 in overtime.
Hardin-Simmons outshot the Cru 9-5 in the first half, putting three shots on frame. The Cru put 10 shots up to the Cowgirls' 15 in the second half.
Both defenses and goalkeepers kept the game scoreless until the overtime winner. UMHB Goalkeeper Aubrey Tipton made a huge save in the 85
th minute, keeping a penalty kick out of the net to keep the Cru in the game.
Hardin-Simmons Lexi Templin scored the game-winner and secured the conference championship for the Cowgirls 26 seconds into overtime, scoring off a ricocheted shot for the win.
Tipton made nine saves in the contest for the Cru, while Audrey Harlien led the Cru with five shots. Hardin-Simmons Goalkeeper Abigail Medlin, made seven saves in her shutout performance. Medlin's performance earned her the Most Valuable Player of the championship. Templin led the Cowgirls offensively with four shots, two on goal, and 1 goal.
Hardin-Simmons will return to action in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament with the bracket to be released on Monday, November 10
th.
