PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Armonie Ramey, G, Jr., Howard Payne
Howard Payne junior guard Armonie Ramey (Dallas, Texas) averaged 20.0 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game for the Yellow Jackets over two games. Ramey scored 26 and grabbed 12 rebounds versus Mary Hardin-Baylor and then scored 14 and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in a win over UT Dallas. He also averaged 3.0 steals per game and 2.5 assists per game for the week and is leading the ASC in steals (3.8) and rebounds (8.8) on the year.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
LeTourneau senior guard Deonte Jackson (Nacogdoches, Texas) led LeTourneau to a 78-70 win over rival ETBU with 19 points, six rebounds, three assists, and no turnovers. The senior went 9-of-12 from the field as LeTourneau led from end-to-end in the victory. Jackson has scored in double-figures in all 20 games this season and leads the ASC in scoring.
UT Dallas junior center Austin Page (Frisco, Texas) averaged 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game as the Comets went 1-1 on the road. He recorded 20 points, six rebounds and a pair of blocks in Thursday's 83-80 overtime win at Hardin-Simmons. Page followed with 14 points, seven boards and five assists while shooting 7-of-8 in Saturday's five-point loss to Howard Payne. For the week, he shot 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the field.
East Texas Baptist junior forward Michael Roberts (Denton, Texas) produced his fifth double-double of the year with 18 points and 13 rebounds shooting 58% from the floor. ETBU was down by 18 with just under 7 min left in the first half before cutting the lead to three with under a minute to go. He had a key rebound at 3:07 that led to an ETBU three-pointer to bring the lead down to five points. His lone three-pointer came in the second half cutting the lead to seven at 10:41 and then at 10:00 had a defensive rebound that led to a layup by Jason Justice cutting the lead to five.
