CHAMPIONS! East Texas Baptist claims 2025 ASC Men’s Tennis Championship Title

ABILENE, Texas – East Texas Baptist claimed the 2025 American Southwest Conference Championship Title with a 4-3 win over Hardin-Simmons on Saturday afternoon in Abilene.

Hardin-Simmons claimed the first match in Flight 3 Doubles with a 6-2 win from Brandon Curiel and Nicholas Boquet. The Tigers then earned a 6-2 Flight 2 win from Slade Austin and Brylee White before Sam Black and Max Karseno clinched the point with a 6-1 Flight 1 win.

ETBU’ s Baptiste Berthier brought the Tigers win to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 singles Flight 4 win. HSU’s Nicholas Boquet put the Cowboys on the board with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 victory in Flight 2. The Tigers added their third point with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win from Sam Black in Flight 1.

The Cowboys then tied it up 3-3 with back-to-back wins from Maddux Foster in Flight 6 (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Zach Fowler in Flight 3 (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4)). ETBU’s Max Karseno clinched the title for the Tigers with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win in Flight 5.

East Texas Baptist receives the ASC Automatic Qualifer to the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament. The announcement of the Division III Tennis Championship Bracket will be made Monday, May 5 at www.ncaa.com.
