AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

HITTER OF THE WEEK – Raef Wright, Sr., OF., East Texas Baptist
East Texas Baptist senior Raef Wright hit .538 in four games this week and went 6 for 9 (.667) vs. Chapman, a team receiving votes in the ABCA poll. In the Tigers win over Austin College, Wright tied the game at one in the first inning on a ground out and had a two RBI single in the fourth to give ETBU the lead, 4-2.

In a 12-11 win against Chapman, Wright went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, a double and a home run helping ETBU come from behind for the win. He cut Chapman's lead to one, 3-2, in the first inning with a double for two RBI. He then homered in the seventh to extend the lead to four, 11-7. ETBU baseball will continue their season at St. Thomas Houston on Tuesday, February 17.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Alex Hill, So., P., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore Alex Hill delivered a dominant performance on the mound last week, pitching six shutout innings against Webster University, ranked No. 15 nationally. Hill allowed just two hits while facing 23 batters and struck out ten throughout the outing. His efforts helped the Crusaders secure a 11-1 victory in game two, and they continued this momentum defeating Webster in game three 10-7 to wrap up the series.

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

HITTERS
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor outfielder Nolan Williams went 7-13 last week against No. 13 Webster. He opened the series with a solo home run in the first game, following that with a perfect 5 for 5 performance in game two. Williams hit four singles and a triple, driving in three runs and scoring three more. He added one more hit and one more run in the final game, finishing the series with 5 runs and four RBI. 
 
Huston Cornish helped the Howard Payne go 3-0 in the Yellow Jackets series against Arlington Baptist last week. Cornish racked up six hits in 12 at bats for a .500 average. Cornish drove in four runs and crossed the plate six times himself, playing a direct role in multiple scoring rallies. The Yellow Jackets finished the series in a shutout 11-0 win and will continue their season on Tuesday, February 17 at Dallas Christian College.

PITCHERS
 
Brant Wilson of Howard Payne delivered a dominant outing on the mound for Howard Payne in six innings for the Yellow Jackets. He allowed just one hit and did not surrender a run throughout his appearance. Wilson also held opponents to a .053 batting average in the outing, as he set the tone early and maintained control from first pitch for HPU.
