MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mark Armbruster, Jr., East Texas Baptist
Mark Armbruster and the East Texas Baptist Tigers faced strong competition at the 2026 Spring Break Classic in Orlando, Florida. Armbruster delivered a strong performance in both singles and doubles, competing against ranked opponents No. 35 Skidmore College and No. 3 Case Western Reserve, along with Ohio Northern and Connecticut College during the tournament.
In singles play, Armbruster went 2-2 while posting a 3-1 record in doubles alongside Erick Van Zyl. He defeated Ohio Northern's Ethan Remy at the No. 3 spot, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. He then went on to defeat Noa Hoshino of Connecticut College 6-2, 6-3 in the final match of the tournament. In doubles, Armbruster and Van Zyl dropped their only match of the week to Ohio Northern 6-4 before going on to defeat Case Western Reserve, Skidmore, and Connecticut College at the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-3, 6-4, and 7-5.
WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Monique Ybarra, Jr., East Texas Baptist
Monique Ybarra helped East Texas Baptist to a 2-2 week, going 3-1 in singles and 2-2 in doubles while competing at the No. 1 position during the 2026 Spring Break Classic in Orlando.
Ybarra earned the only win over Ohio Northern, defeating Jeanna Bell 6-1, 6-3. She then went on to defeat Breanna Ball of Otterbein University 6-1, 6-0. In a decisive tie-breaking match with Connecticut College, Ybarra defeated Maya Kowalska 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (10-7) to give ETBU the 4-3 team win. In doubles play, Ybarra competed with Isabelle Macquet, defeating Otterbein and Connecticut College 6-1 and 6-4.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Avery Williams (Mary Hardin-Baylor) went 2-1 in both singles and doubles with singles wins over Haverford and Connecticut College. In doubles, Williams and Lori Bryan defeated Haverford 6-3 and Wisconsin–La Crosse 7-6 (7-3).
