MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Noah Zarate, So., East Texas Baptist
Noah Zarate competed at North Texas in the 800-meter dash, finishing with a time of 2:02.72. The mark was a personal best as he placed 12th out of 30 runners representing NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and JUCO programs. His time was just five seconds off the top finisher in the event.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Hannah Willis, So., East Texas Baptist
Hannah Willis competed at both the North Texas and Mississippi College meets, placing in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter events. Willis recorded a personal best time of 2:25.74 in the 800 meters, finishing third against NCAA Division I, II, III, and JUCO competition. She followed that performance at Mississippi College with a second-place finish in the 1,500 meters, posting a time of 4:59.39 in a field of 14 runners.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Gunner Helm, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Gunner Helm placed second in the high jump at the Angelo State Midweek Meet. He recorded a season-best clearance of 2.10 meters (6-10¾), which ranks No. 6 in NCAA Division III outdoor track & field this season.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Lenora Busby, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Lenora Busby continued her strong season by leading the Cowgirls throwers in both the discus and shot put at Angelo State. Competing against athletes from Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico, Busby placed fifth in the discus (126-0) and fifth in the shot put (29-10). Both marks were the top Division III performances in the meet.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Emily Perkins (Hardin-Simmons) placed seventh out of nine runners in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.55, the top finish among Division III competitors.
Jayla Johnson (East Texas Baptist) recorded a mark of 5.06 meters (16-7¼) in the long jump, placing sixth out of 13 participants.
Kaleb Wollery (East Texas Baptist) finished second in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters (13-11¼) among five competitors.
Donovan Simmons (Hardin-Simmons) placed fifth out of 14 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.74, the top Division III time in the event.
