TYLER, Texas (Oct. 30) --- The University of Texas at Tyler men's cross country team won a fifth American Southwest Conference Championship on Saturday, with Patriots' junior Jeff Chandler taking the individual men's top spot at the league's championship race on the UT Tyler campus.
Chandler finished with a time of 26:20 - more than 20-seconds ahead of second place Donny Gable of Mississippi College.
Along with Chandler, three other Patriots finished in the top 10. Joncary Faubion finished in fifth place with a 26:57 time, Will Krogman came in at 7th at 27:29, and Mark Saroni finished in 28:06 for 10th place overall.
In the team standings, UT Tyler came in first with 35 points, followed by Ozarks with 56 points, Mississippi College with 76 points and LeTourneau with 169 points.
Ozarks' David James was named ASC Men's Cross Country Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
