Kerrville, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team could not quite its red-hot opening-round pace, but the Cru did more than enough to hold onto its lead and the UMHB men posted a four-stroke victory at the Schreiner Fall Classic Tuesday.
The Cru fired a 277-306=583 team total and edged tournament host Schreiner University's 288-299=587 by four shots. LeTourneau University took third place after carding a 289-310=599 team total, Hardin-Simmons finished in fourth place after shooting 293-307=600, Schreiner's White team took fifth place with a 306-313=619 and Concordia Texas took sixth place at 307-314=621.
Johnathan Sustaita posted the low individual finish for the UMHB men, tying for second place with a 64-79=143. Robby Schimmels took fourth place after firing a 74-71=145. Bryce Myburgh shot 76-71=147 to tie for fifth place for the Cru. Spencer Turner (70-78) and Stayton Lindeman (69-79) tied for eighth place with 148's and Evan Kaye tied for 20th place with a 77-78=155. Schreiner's Jimmy Keener won the individual title after posting a 71-71=142.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-90, 6,505-yard layout at Scott Schreiner Golf Course in Kerrville. The tournament also closes out the fall schedule for the UMHB men.
