SALEM, Va. — Hardin-Simmons senior guard Matt Addison was named a first-team All-American by D3hoops.com as part of the NCAA Division III Men's Final Four in Salem, Va.
Addison also had a solid all-around game with 19 points, five assists and four steals in the Reese's Division III all-star game that featured 20 of the nation's top players. His team came away with a 105-101 victory in the game.
Earlier in the week, Addison was named first-team all-South region and the South region player of the year by D3hoops.com and he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches all-South region team as voted on by the coaches in the region.
Addison, who was the American Southwest Conference West Division player of the year, established an ASC record with 744 points this season. He finished third nationally in scoring with 28.6 points per game.
He also had 122 assists and 66 steals and shot 48 percent from the field, 43 percent from 3-point range and 88 percent from the free throw line.
Addison finished his career as HSU's all-time non-scholarship era career leader in scoring average (26.8), free throw percentage (89), assists per game (5.0) and steals per game (3.2). He was the single-season leader in points scored (744), average (28.6), field goals made (234) and free throws made (197).
Addison led the Cowboys to a 21-7 record, the 21 wins are most in the American Southwest Conference era at Hardin-Simmons and HSU advanced to the ASC Championship game, before losing to McMurry in overtime.
