PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ben Phillip, Sr., G, Howard Payne

Ben Phillip of Howard Payne was dominant this week for the Yellow Jackets, logging 60 minutes and stuffing the stat sheet from end to end. In a 104-86 HPU win over East Texas Baptist on Saturday, Phillip had a season-high 32 points, adding nine assists and six rebounds. From the field, Phillip made over half of his attempts shooting at 52 percent on 17 for 33 shots. 

On the season, Phillip is averaging 14.1 points per game. Howard Payne will finish regular season play at Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday, February 21.
 



OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

Michael Roberts of East Texas Baptist averaged 20.5 points per game on a tremendous 76% shooting performance this week. Phillips tied his career-high of 28 points in a 89-71 Tigers win over Howard Payne, along with five rebounds. Following his home performance against Howard Payne, the Tigers traveled to Brownwood where Roberts had a 13 point, six rebound night.

Hardin-Simmons forward Chris Bryant averaged 14 points a game for the Cowboys against UMHB last week. After scoring eight points in the 93-90 overtime loss on Tuesday, Bryant followed up this performance with a 20 point, 11 rebound night adding two steals and two blocks in the 86-80 win on Saturday.
