LONGVIEW -- The UT Tyler men's golf team took part in the LeTourneau Spring Classic, winning the tournament in their final tuneup before the American Southwest Conference Championships in two weeks.
The team win was the fifth on the season, out of nine tournaments played. The Patriots shot a 574 as a team, 12-strokes better than the second place team, Louisiana College.
Matt Stephens led UT Tyler, winning the individual championship by shooting a 3-under, 137 for the tournament. Stephens was the only player to shoot two rounds below 70, with a 68 and 69 respectively.
Trent Boudoin finished in third place overall, shooting a 144 for the tournament while teammate Jacob Walsh finished in fifth, shooting a 145.
UT Tyler will hit the course again, on April 16, at the ASC Championships at Crown Colony in Lufkin, Texas.
