LUFKIN, TX -- Freshman Taylor O'Rear fired an 80 to help Mary Hardin-Baylor take the lead after the first day of the 2012 American Southwest Conference Golf Championship on Monday at par-72 Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin, Texas.

UMHB -- also fueled by Kelly Gonyea's 84, which has her in third place individually -- put together a 340 on the rainy and overcast day and leads Schreiner by 12 strokes entering Tuesday's final 18 holes. Sarah Stillwell and defending conference champion Gabby Rosales guided Schreiner with an 85 and 86, respectively.

Texas-Tyler (361)  is in third place and was led by Katie Crawford, who carded an 83 and sits in second place individually.

Concordia Texas (364) is in fourth place, followed by McMurry (400), Texas Lutheran (409), Hardin-Simmons (441) and Texas-Dallas (466). Individual Candice Nishimura of LeTourneau is tied for seventh place after an 87.

The ASC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships, to be held May 8-11 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
