TYLER, Texas -- No. 3 seeded Mary Hardin-Baylor opened the 2014 American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament with an 81-72 win over No. 6 seed Ozarks.
 
In the win junior Macy Moore hit four three-pointers, leading UMHB with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
 
UMHB (17-9) went up by as many as 10 points, leading 42-32 with a minute remaining in the opening half. Ozarks (10-16) was able to close the gap to trail by six, 45-39, at the break.
 
With 5:34 remaining in regulation, the Lady Eagles got to within 65-61, until Moore hit a three to move the Cru ahead, 68-61. UMHB retained the lead the rest of the way for the 81-72 quarterfinal win.
 
UMHB shot 41 percent for the game, including 39 percent from beyond the arc. Alyssa Dean scored 18 points and Jonelle Smith scored 14, including two three-pointers, for the Cru.
 
Ozarks' Kindra Davis scored a game-high 22 points, also hauling-in a game-high 15 rebounds in the loss.
 
The Cru advances to Saturday's semifinals (1:00 p.m.) to face the winner of the Texas-Dallas vs. Concordia Texas quarterfinal. Ozarks completes its season.
