TYLER, Texas -- Mary Hardin-Baylor opened the game on a 16-2 run and never looked back in ousting defending American Southwest Conference champion Texas-Dallas,102-79, in the first semifinal game of the ASC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament on Saturday.
 
With the win, UMHB (18-9) advances to the ASC championship game on Sunday. It will be the third title game appearance for the Cru and their first since 2006. UMHB also played in the 2001 conference final.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor ran out to a 14-point lead in the first 7 minutes of the game, stretching its advantage to 17 points three more times in the first half. Texas-Dallas closed to within 10 points at the half, 40-30. The Cru led by 16 points, 62-36, four minutes into the second half. The Comets came back to trail by six, 57-51, with 12:07 remaining, but it was as close as they would get as UMHB slowly pulled away.
 
Five UMHB players finished in double-figure scoring, led by 25 points from Macy Moore and 22 points from Jonelle Smith. Alyssa Dean (16 points), Kourtney Bevers (15 points) and Jovana Miles (14 points) completed the quintet of double-digit scorers.
Miles grabed a game-high 8 rebounds Dean totaled 5 assists.
 
Texas-Dallas (21-7) was led by Jo'Anna Davis who scored 22 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. Morgan Kilgore added 16 points and Christina Brosnahan 15 points for the Comets.
