TYLER, Texas -- Top-seeded Texas-Tyler advanced to its first-ever American Southwest Conference women's basketball championship game after posting a 74-65 win over No. 5 seed Louisiana College in the second semifinal game of the ASC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament on Saturday.
 
The Patriots (24-3) will face third-seeded Mary Hardin-Baylor (18-9) in Sunday's 2:00 title game. The two teams split the 2013-14 regular-season conference series with each winning on its home floor.
 
Texas-Tyler led by as many as 19 early in the second half, and held a double-digit lead until Louisiana College's Neka Jones drained a three-pointer to trim the Patriot lead to nine, 67-58 with 3:15 remaining. Texas-Tyler free throw, Louisiana College (16-11) countered with a layup to cut the lead to 8 points, 68-60, the closest it came as they were forced to foul to stop the clock.
 
In the first half, Texas-Tyler methodically built a 12-point lead midway through the first half, stretching its advantage to as many as 17 points with 3:51 remaining before the break. The Patriots led by 15, 43-28, at the half.
 
Patriot forward Madison Wilson came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points. Breann McMillan added 14 points while Brittany King recorded a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 18 rebounds for Texas-Tyler. Louisiana College scoring was led by a trio with 9 points each -- Natosha Morvant, Shelby Stewart and LaToya Evans.
