RICHARDSON, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor junior guard
Josiah Johnson was named the Player of the Year announced by the league office in conjunction with the release of the 2022 American Southwest Conference Men’s Basketball All-Conference teams on Wednesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Johnson, who was the ASC West Division Player of the Year in 2021, led the conference with 25.0 points per game and an 87.9 free throw percentage and was second in steals with 61. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds per game to go with 89 assists and 12 blocks, while shooting 46.5 percent for the ASC champion Cru.
Joining Johnson on the All-ASC First Team are LeTourneau junior guard

Luke Kiser was the Freshman of the Year average averaging 7.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game with 81 assists, two blocks and 43 steals. East Texas Baptist sophomore forward
Darry Moore earned Newcomer of the Year after posting 14.6 points and 6.0 rebounds with 26 points, nine blocks and 17 steals and shooting 54.3 percent from the field.
HSU senior guard
Chase Cobb took Defensive Player of the Year honors. He averaged 11.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game with 50 assists, four blocks and 32 steals. LETU senior guard
Justin Moore was the Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
First year-head coach
James Wallace from LeTourneau was the Coach of the Year. He guided the YellowJackets to a 22-5 overall record, 15-4 in conference play and a runner-up finish at the ASC Championship Tournament.
