ABILENE, Texas – McMurry won its 15th title after competing at the 2023 American Southwest Conference Track & Field Championships at Elmer Gray Stadium.
 
The War Hawks started a new streak of three straight titles since 2021 and also have earned the team crown in 2017, 2018 and 1999-04 and 2006-09. McMurry came away with 323 points to seal the win. Hardin-Simmons was in second with 191 points, while East Texas Baptist and LeTourneau tied for 73 each.
 
Hardin-Simmons Kylah Holland was voted Outstanding Track Athlete for consecutive championships. She also was the High Point Athlete for the women's track and field competition, as she won 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, and 3,000m steeplechase. She shattered ASC Championship records in the 1,500m and 10,000m.
 
Ozarks Chloe Weathers was named Outstanding Freshman Athlete. East Texas Baptist Neelie Scheel was honored as Outstanding Field Athlete as she won the javelin with an impressive mark of 43.13 meters. Hardin-Simmons Lynda Farmer was tabbed Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
 
McMurry earned Coaching Staff of the Year for the third straight year.
