War Hawks Voted to Retain ASC Women's Track and Field Championship

DALLAS – McMurry was selected to continue its success and win the 2024 American Southwest Conference Women’s Track and Field Championship in a vote of the league’s head coaches the conference office announced Thursday (February 22).
 
The War Hawks, who won their 15th title in 2023 and have won the past three seasons and five of the last six championships McMurry secured the top vote with 45 points and had six first-place votes.
 
Hardin-Simmons followed in second with 37 points and the remaining first-place vote. The Cowgirls were second in 2023 at the outdoor championships. East Texas Baptist followed with 31 points and LeTourneau was in fourth with 27 points. These programs tied for third place in 2023. Concordia Texas (24 pts.), UT Dallas (21), and Ozarks (8) rounded out the poll for the teams, but have several strong individuals that will compete on different events.
 
In addition to the championship predictions, 29 student-athletes were named to the 2024 ASC Athletes to Watch list. 12 athletes were All-Conference last spring. Three award winners also were part of this group including Hardin-Simmons graduate student Kylah Holland who was Hight Point Athlete and Outstanding Track Athlete. East Texas Baptist sophomore Neelie Schiel is also included and was Outstanding Field Athlete last season. Ozarks sophomore Chloe Weathers was Outstanding Freshman Athlete. Another notable name is ETBU’s sophomore Graycee Mosley, who was an all-conference winner last spring. Mosley is a two-time ASC Most Valuable Player for volleyball.
 
The 2024 ASC Women’s Track and Field Championships will be hosted by McMurry this spring. Concordia Texas competed in the first outdoor competition on February 17, with most teams starting March 1. East Texas Baptist, LeTourneau, Hardin-Simmons, and McMurry have been competing in the indoor season.
