DALLAS – In a vote by American Southwest Conference men’s tennis head coaches,
UT Dallas and
Concordia Texas were unanimous favorites to win its respective divisions, the league office announced Tuesday.
UT Dallas claimed all nine first-place votes for 45 points, marking consecutive years the Comets swept the top vote. The Comets have won the East Division the previous four seasons since switching from the West Division in 2019-20 and went 4-0 last year.
East Texas Baptist followed in second with 35 points and went 3-1 in the East Division last season.
Ozarks claimed third with 24 points and was 2-2 as the third seed in the division a season ago.
LeTourneau (20 pts.) and
Howard Payne (11 pts.) wrapped up the poll.
Concordia Texas also was picked by nine coaches with a first-place selection in the West Division. The Tornados claimed 36 points to lead the division and look posed to repeat as the ASC Champions after a 5-4 victory over Hardin-Simmons for their second title. CTX was 17-5 last season with a 3-1 divisional mark.
Mary Hardin-Baylor was selected second in the West Division with 23 points and went 13-6 overall with 2-2 divisional mark for the third seed in the division last season.
Hardin-Simmons came in third this preseason with 21 points and were runners-up last season in the championship match and won the West Division with a 4-0 record to go with a 12-win campaign.
McMurry collected 10 points and was 1-3 in the division a season ago.
Sul Ross State will not count in the 2024 standings and are ineligible for both the ASC and NCAA Championships due to reclassifying to NCAA Division II.
In addition to the preseason poll, 20 players were named to the ASC Men’s Tennis Preseason Watch List by the head coaches. Among the players on this list are six players with All-Division honors and two with all-conference honors. East Texas Baptist

Landon Ferree was 2023 ASC East Division Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
Mary Hardin-Baylor kicked off the spring season with a match at Texas Lutheran this past Saturday. Most teams will be starting action in the coming week.
2023-24 ASC Men’s Tennis Schedule
The 2024 ASC Men’s Tennis Championship will be held May 2-4 at the site hosted by the No. 1 Seed in the West Division. The top three seeds from each division qualify for the tournament with a single elimination format.
