ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons University won the 2024 American Southwest Conference Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday, November 10
th in Abilene. This is the 24
th ASC title for the Cowgirls.
The contest remained scoreless through the first half. Hardin-Simmons recorded six shots with three on frame. Mary Hardin-Baylor recorded seven shots with one on goal.
The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead in the 51
st minute with a goal from Lexi Templin on a Gabby Aviles assist. The Cru recorded eight shots in the half with four on goal. However, the Hardin-Simmons defense held strong with goalkeeper Jenna Russell totaling five saves in the match to earn the 1-0 victory.
Hardin-Simmons will receive the ASC automatic qualifier to the 2024 NCAA DIII Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament. The selection show will be on November 11
th at 1:00 pm on NCAA.com.
