DALLAS – Hardin-Simmons senior forward
Will Bartoszek has been named Player of the Year for the 2024 American Southwest Conference Men’s Basketball All-Conference teams on Wednesday (February 29) by the league’s head coaches.
Bartoszek earns the honor for the first time after a career year that resulted in him leading the Cowboys scoring with 561 points (21.6 ppg), free throws with 181, assists with 73, and steals with 46. He was second in rebounds with 197 (7.6). Bartoszek ranked second in the ASC in scoring, tied fifth in rebounds per contest, second in free throws, and sixth in steals. Bartoszek earned ASC Player of the Week on four occasions and was a Bevo Top 100 Watch List selection.

Collin Roberts was voted ASC Freshman of the Year. The forward made 21 starts out of his 26 appearances in his debut season and was part of a quintet of Cowboys to eclipse 200 points on the season with 207 (8.0). He also had 101 rebounds with a near split of 51 defensive and 50 offensive rebounds. His 15 blocks ranked second on the team.
Mary Hardin-Baylor junior guard
Eli Beard was tabbed ASC Newcomer of the Year. Beard finished fifth in the conference in total points (503) and was part of a group of five to surpass 500 points this season. He led the league in three-point field goal percentage with a .451-clip.
UT Dallas junior guard
Luke Kiser earned ASC Defensive Player of the Year. Kiser was second in the conference in steals with 52 and averaged 2.2 a game. He finished top of the conference in assists and had the best assist/turnover ration with a 2.4 mark.
East Texas Baptist senior guard
Jaden Conner was named ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. Conner was third on the team in scoring with 244 points (10.7) and second in rebounds with 122 (4.7).
Hardin-Simmons Head Coach
Matt Brackett was named ASC Coach of the Year by his peers. The eight-year head coach guided the Cowboys to a share of the ASC Men’s Basketball Regular Season Title with a 12-4 conference record. His team went 19-7 overall which included putting together a nine-game winning streak at one juncture. Coach Bracket surpassed 100 career wins this season.

Darry Moore returning to the First Team from a season ago. Johnson is the only four-time all-conference on this year’s list and finishes his career as the ASC’s all-time leading scorer, setting the new record at 2,559 points.
