Co-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abbie Wetzel, F, Jr., Howard Payne
Abbie Wetzel from Howard Payned scored the game winning goal in the 79th minute of the game to give the Yellow Jackets the 1-0 victory over East Texas Baptist. This was Wetzel's third game-winning goal of the season, now leading the ASC.
Co-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lexi Templin, F, Jr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons Lexi Templin won the day for the Cowgirls in the end with a goal in the 87th minute after cutting through the defense to meet a pass from Presleigh Thiessen for the finish. The 1-0 Cowgirl win handed UMHB its first loss in ASC play this season heading into the ASC tournament.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abigail Medlin, GK, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Abigail Medlin from Hardin-Simmons saved the game for the Cowgirls on Saturday with a save on a penalty kick by UMHB in the 67th minute of a 0-0 game to hold the shutout. The Cowgirls went on to win with a goal from Lexi Templin late to defeat the Crusaders 1-0. Medlin finished with six saves in the shutout win in over UMHB.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
Defensive
Kaylin Greger, who plays goalie for Howard Payne played the full 90 minutes on the defense, allowing only three SOG in the 1-0 victory over ETBU. Her efforts helped HPU to their second consecutive conference shutout, and the first win at ETBU since 2019.
