ABILENE, Texas – East Texas Baptist and Hardin-Simmons advance to the American Southwest Conference Championship Match after semifinal wins on Friday in Abilene.

Mary Hardin-Baylor claimed the first point of the match with a pair of doubles wins. ETBU earned the first doubles victory with a No. 2 6-0 victory from Slade Austin and BT White. UMHB quickly tied it up with a 6-3 No. 3 win from Sam Rahm and Eli Sam. Nicolas Cusano and Joaquim clinched the point with a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker win in the No. 1 spot.
ETBU added their first point with a 6-3, 6-3 Flight 6 singles win from Slade Austin. From there the other five matches all went to a third set. ETBU’s BT White was the next to earn a point, making it 2-1 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win in Flight 3. Baptiste Berthier made it 3-1 for the Tigers with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 Flight 4 win. ETBU’s Max Karseno clinched the victory for the Tigers with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 Flight 5 win.

Hardin-Simmons opened play with a 6-1 Flight 3 doubles win by Payne Smith and Jameson Sorrell. Brandon Curiel and Nick Boquet followed with another 6-1 win in Flight 2 doubles to clinch the first point for the Cowboys.
Brandon Curiel earned the first singles win in Flight 4 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Paxton O’Shea brought the Cowboy lead to 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 Flight 5 win. LeTourneau got on the board with a Flight 2 win from Andrew Reiman as he scored 6-2, 6-3. Zach Fowler secured the win for Hardin-Simmons with a 6-1, 6-4 Flight 3 victory.
Hardin-Simmons and East Texas Baptist will compete in the ASC Championship Match on Saturday, April 26
th at 1:00 PM in Abilene.
