OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Belle Floyd, MF, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons senior midfielder Belle Floyd (Litchfield Park, Arizona) played a big part in the Cowgirls going 2-0 last week. She had one assist in the 3-0 win over Concordia Texas on the road Thursday night and scored the game-winner early in the 1-0 win over Texas Lutheran on Saturday for the Cowgirls.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abigail Medlin, GK, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons senior goalkeeper Abigail Medlin (Cypress, Texas) contributed a great deal to the Cowgirl defense, leading the team to two shutout wins last weekend. Medlin started and had one save in the first 45 minutes in the 3-0 win at Concordia Texas on Thursday. Medlin was extremely active in the Cowgirl 1-0 shutout of Texas Lutheran on Saturday, finishing with eight saves and shutting down another dozen promising attacks and services by the Bulldogs in the big win.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
East Texas Baptist sophomore forward Paige Barclay (Dallas, Texas) helped ETBU to a win over Ozarks, 4-0, and a tie with Hendrix. She scored the second goal of the match in the 48th minute just 13 seconds after her teammate Madeline Rumachik made it 1-0. It is her first goal of the year and at ETBU.
Howard Payne senior midfielder Brenna Douthit (Waxahachie, Texas) assisted the game winner and scored the insurance goal on Tuesday night’s win against LeTourneau, and then opened up the scoring on Thursday night against McMurry. Brenna’s 2 goals moved her to #2 on HPU’s all-time goals list, and the 5 points on the weekend moved her to #2 on the career points list. Brenna currently leads the ASC in shots, goals, assists, and points.
East Texas Baptist senior goalkeeper Cadence Tischler (The Colony, Texas) put together another strong week in the goal, earning two more shutouts. She had two crucial saves in the 0-0 tie with Hendrix in the 54th and 82nd minutes, and then the defense held Ozarks to just three shots, overall, two while Tischler was in with no shots on goal. She has not let a goal by her in 434 minutes with the last score coming on August 31 vs Linfield in the 81st minute, and has five shutouts on record as two are combined with backup playing just 24 minutes in those two matches.
