Mary Hardin-Baylor Leads 2026 ASC Women’s Tennis Preseason Poll

New Braunfels, Texas – In a vote by the American Southwest Conference (ASC) women’s tennis head coaches, Mary Hardin-Baylor was predicted to finish first in the 2026 ASC Women’s Tennis Preseason Poll, the league office announced Wednesday.

Mary Hardin-Baylor earned 15 points and three first-place votes. The Cru finished the 2025 ASC season 4-0 in conference play and 10-9 overall, led by 2025 ASC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year Daniel White.

Hardin-Simmons was picked to finish second in the 2026 Preseason Poll with 13 points and one first-place vote after posting a 3-1 ASC record in 2025. East Texas Baptist split conference play last season, finishing 2-2, while Howard Payne went 0-4 in ASC competition and earned four points in the 2026 poll.

In addition to the preseason poll, eight players were named to the ASC Women’s Tennis Preseason Watch List by the head coaches. The list includes six players who earned 2025 All-Conference honors and both 2025 Co-Freshmen of the Year in Hannah Lightner of Howard Payne and Sydney Tomlin of Hardin-Simmons.

The 2026 ASC Women’s Tennis Championship will be held April 24-25 and hosted by the No. 1 Seed.
