PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hudson Johnson, G, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Mary Hardin-Baylor's Hudson Johnson totaled 108 points over a four-game spread, including two 30+ point contests. He was named D3hoops Classic Most Valuable Player after helping the Cru to wins over Ohio Northern and No. 11 Redlands. Johnson scored 21 against ONU and 32 against Redlands, making a total of 10 three-pointers. He added 22 rebounds and 11 assists in the stretch, averaging 27 points per contest. Johnson also helped the Cru tie the program record for threes in a game against Redlands.
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES
East Texas Baptist Jack Pease averaged 17 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in four games over the break. He had double figures in all four games, finishing with 23 points per game in California versus Occidental and La Verne to tie his career high. He also posted a career high nine rebounds versus Lewis and Clark.
Chris Bryant from Hardin-Simmons helped the Cowboys to a 3-3 record over the holidays, averaging 17.6 points a game and 6.8 rebounds a game. He scored a career-high 31 points at Arlington Baptist to go with eight rebounds. He had 14 points and six rebounds against Wis.-Steven's Point, 20 points and eight rebounds playing SJU (MN), 15 points and ten rebounds against Chapman, 12 points and seven rebounds at Cal Lutheran, and 14 points against Schreiner most recently. Bryant finished with 13 blocks and 13 assists in the last six games while shooting 39-63 for 62 percent from the field to go with 26-34 free throws at 72 percent from the line.
Armonie Ramey Howard Payne went on a tear over the break averaging nearly 29 points, 9.5 rebounds, six assists, 4.7 steals and one block per game in the stretch. Ramey also went on to score his 1500th point for his career.
