AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Davare Payne, Jr., Hardin-Simmons
Davare Payne competed in the 110m hurdles, placing second overall with a time of 14.62 and qualifying for the finals against a field of 14 hurdlers. This time ranks No. 10 nationally in Division III. Payne and the Cowboys 4x100 meter relay team also finished in sixth place in the finals.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Emily Perkins, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Hardin-Simmons freshman Emily Perkins led the Cowgirls in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 26.62. Perkins competed against a field of 48 runners at the Angelo State David Noble Relays in San Angelo, Texas.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Jahymeer Larkins, Sr., Hardin-Simmons
Jahymeer Larkins finished in the top 10 in the men’s discus at the Angelo State meet, facing competition from both Division I and II athletes. Larkins threw 148-8 ft. (45.32 m) to place seventh out of 22 competitors, ranking No. 46 in Division III. He also competed in the shot put, throwing 48-7½ ft. (14.82 m) to place sixth in a field of 19.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Lenora Busby, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Lenora Busby placed tenth out of 17 competitors in the women’s discus in San Angelo, Texas. Busby threw 122-8 ft., finishing with the second-best Division III mark in the event.
