TYLER, Texas (Oct. 30) — In just their third season of competition, the Hardin-Simmons women’s cross country team won the American Southwest Conference team title and Lindsey Hinton set the school and conference record with a 23:14 to win the individual title Saturday morning at the UT Tyler cross country course on the UT Tyler campus.
“We knew we had a shot going in and we knew it was going to be close but our girls came out and competed at their top level today,” HSU assistant Shawn Hailey said. “Lindsey set the school and conference record for the 6K and she was fantastic for us. It was a total team effort”
The Cowgirls had a team total of 52 points, outdistancing runner-up Texas Lutheran University. Hinton was followed by Julia Holub in fifth place and Maloree Kendall in seventh place. Vanessa Montelongo, Whitney Browning and Julie Cole finished right next to each other in 19, 20 and 21st places. Jessica Lauderdale was the Cowgirls seventh runner.
