Texas-Tyler Rolls Past Ozarks Into ASC Semifinals

TYLER, Texas
- The Texas-Tyler women's basketball team closed out the first day of the American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball Championship in record-breaking fashion, defeating Ozarks 113-53.
The 113 points is the most scored by the Patriots (25-1), who beat its previous mark of 107 which set in November in the season-opener against Centenary.
Texas-Tyler also set a team record for three-pointers made with 19, crushing the previous record of 14 set about two months ago in a win against Sul Ross State.
Senior Jasmin Baskin also made history in the game, hitting her 62nd three-pointer of the season, breaking the previous record of 62 set my Melissa Thomas in 2007-08.
It was all Patriots from the start, as the home team wowed the crowd with a 45-16 run to begin the game, going up by 29 points with 7:01 remaining in the first half.
The lead would rise to 37 points at the end of the opening half, as Brittany King converted a tip-in to give UT Tyler the 57-20 lead heading into the locker room.
It was much more of the same for an out-matched Ozarks (12-14) team which had no answer for the scorching Texas-Tyler offense which shot 57-percent from the field and 51-percent from beyond-the-arc.
The Patriots would go up by as many as 62 points in the second half, eventually winning 113-53 over the Eagles.
For the game, the Patriots had six players score in double-digits, led by Michelle Obach who finished with 17. Baskin finished the night with 15 points, all by way of three-pointers, while Madison Wilson and King each finished with 12 points.
King also finished the game with a game-high 12 rebounds, while D'Onna Matthews finished with five total.
Texas-Tyler will now prepare to take on No. 4 seeded Howard Payne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the second ASC Semifinal of the day.
