BELTON, Texas - Univeristy of Mary Hardin-Baylor claimed its 15th American Southwest Conference championship in football with a 31-21 victory over East Texas Baptist University at Crusader Stadium Saturday.
The Cru (10-0, 9-0), ranked No. 1 in the nation, have been the outright champion or co-champion each of the last 13 seasons. Pete Fredenburg's team are the defending national champions, having won 25 consecutive games since the beginning of 2016.
UMHB and league runnerup Hardin-Simmons University (9-1, 8-1), who are ranked fifth in the nation, are expected to be selected to the NCAA Division III Championship. The selection show will air at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday on
