AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Gabriel Harris, Fr., Hardin-Simmons
Gabriel Harris finished the week undefeated while competing at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles. He helped the Cowboys secure a win in their final conference match before adding a victory over ranked UC Santa Cruz. In doubles, Harris teamed with Payne Smith to defeat East Texas Baptist 7-6 (7-5), followed by a 6-4 win over UC Santa Cruz. In singles play, he earned a three-set victory over ETBU’s Mark Armbruster, 7-5, 5-7, 10-5, and then defeated his UC Santa Cruz opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Breanna Taylor, Fr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Breanna Taylor posted a 3-1 overall record in matches against Howard Payne and UC Santa Cruz. She competed at No. 2 doubles alongside Emma Nordin and at No. 5 singles. Against Howard Payne, Taylor recorded a doubles win (6-0) and received a singles forfeit. She followed with a strong singles performance against UC Santa Cruz, winning 6-1, 6-2, helping the Cru to a 1-1 record on the week.

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

Kell Castleberry (Mary Hardin-Baylor) finished the week 4-0, helping the Cru to an undefeated 2-0 weekend. He earned a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles and a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles against conference opponent Howard Payne, helping secure the ASC Regular Season Championship.

Kristyn Dunn (East Texas Baptist) went 2-0 on the week, earning a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles alongside Jazmyne Ford-Schartner and a three-set victory at No. 4 singles, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5. Dunn accounted for two of ETBU’s three points in the match.
